David Vensland, Photographer

Dave – “For me it started back in 1985 with the gift of a Canon AE-1 35mm camera, which I still have, although these days I only pull it out when feeling sentimental. Once I started looking through the lens and discovering how powerful capturing a moment in time can be there was no turning back. After years and many rolls of lessons learned this self taught photographer found my style and have been producing images ever since.

Being a huge geek and loving the tech toys the digital explosion in photography and editing has been a huge boon for me and it has allowed me to unleash my artistic side. There is virtually nothing you can’t do either in camera or in post production with tools like Lightroom and PhotoShop.

Along with the business side of Vensland Photography I am also concentrating on many personal artistic projects and enjoy watching ideas go from concept to finished product. For a current listing of the art projects we are working on and have TF* opportunities check out our Casting Calls!”

Shari Vensland, Concepts & Inspiration

Shari – “Creating lifelong memories for families is incredibly rewarding.  With the added venture into Model and Actor portfolios in 2009 we have been having an absolute blast.  The variety of people that we have met and had the opportunity to work with and the amazing projects have produced absolutely incredible results…. if I may say that about our own work!

When we are on a shoot there is always fun and laughter.  We try to keep the spirit light and everyone smiling, even when we have a temperamental two year old who doesn’t want anything but to snuggle with momma.  At times it can be a challenge, however, working as a team we are able to bob and weave around to find those special moments just ripe for the picking.

Lisa Anderson - Chief Cook & Bottle Washer

Lisa – “Before working behind the scenes I never knew how much work it is to create high quality commercial images.  And it’s funny how everyone with a DSLR these days think they could have taken that magazine cover image. For those folks I would invite them into the studio when we are doing a shoot with props, talent, and a lighting scheme broadway would be proud to have!

Being part of such a creative group is so much fun and we have had some very exciting adventures over the years. Every assignment brings new challenges and opportunities to learn, grow and create. Some of the most memorable shoots have been those where things didn’t go as planed, yet we were able to adapt and overcome the situation ending with mind blowing images.

With the every increasing speed of technologic change it will be interesting to see where the industry goes and what new opportunities lie ahead of us.”

Mary Jeanne Garbers - Make Up & Hair Artist

Mary Jeanne – “I am the newest addition to the team and met the group during a photoshoot for my sister who is a local Model and Actress. I provided hair and make-up for that shoot, we all just hit it off and Dave has been calling me ever since. I am an independent Hair and Make-Up artist and love being involved in model and concepts shoots.

If you look close you will find a few of my photos around the site as well, Dave shot my headshots to help me update my own portfolio!
