Artist Statement:

Art is everywhere and it is everyone. Earlier in my life I felt like I had a severe case of artistic attention deficit disorder as I tried to concentrate on just one area or what my vision of what art is. Over time, I have come to realize I just need to relax and let the spirit move me and the art will develop as we journey through life.

Looking through the lens of the camera I have found a doorway to a world that is not visible to me any other way. When working through the artistic process I usually begin the editing portion of my workflow with no specific “look” or exact end result in mind. I will go with the flow adjusting, tweaking and playing with an image until the emotion or feeling, not the look, of it is just right.

Viewers of my work often have multiple perspectives of the same image: the thrill of the curves of a body, the details of the lighting, the message of the small scene verses the overall story. This visual mutuality has engaged me for many years and I am fascinated by the synergy of the big picture verses the details, or the poetry verses the science of an image. I believe the totality in these perspectives results in a deeper appreciation of the whole.
