Types of Bookings:

There are several ways we can team up and collaborate on a project. You can hire us directly, we can hire you directly, a client may have a project we are booking for, or we may have a project or idea worthy of doing a trade (TF*) where we all work for free and the end results are shared by all. If you are new to the modeling industry you may have seen the terms TF*, TFCD, or TFP in some photographers casting calls.  The TF stand for “TRADE FOR” the CD means you are trading for your images on media like a “CD” or Zip Drive. The P stand for “PRINT” meaning you are working for prints of the final images. When we do TF* work, we only do TFCD and provide only those edited images we deem worthy of display. In any TF* agreement it is good to make sure you know the details before committing to the shoot. If you are just starting out, or working to update your portfolio and are looking for a TF* arrangement let us know, we are always happy to help out when/where we can.

Copyright / Licensing:

Unless other arrangements are made, I maintain copyright to all images I photograph. Usage rights can/will be granted in accordance with the arrangements made for that specific shoot. If we are shooting for your portfolio, have no fear I will spell out your usage rights agreement directly on the CD, it is as follows:

“Photos contained on this CD may be used for purposes related to personal promotion, including but not limited to advertising, portfolios, composite cards, exhibitions, contests, and promotional internet web sites. The publication rights are not to be sold for any or all of the Photos without Photographer’s prior consent. The copyright of all photos contained within is held by David Vensland, his heirs, or legal representatives”

If you are hiring me and want or need more usage rights than this, please let me know. It’s not that I won’t do it, I just like to know going into the shoot what the details of our agreement is. As an example: If you are a fitness model and your income is derived from selling your own images to fitness magazines and you need to hire a photographer to get your latest and greatest look, wonderful! All I ask in this type of situation you spell out your needs before the shoot.

Model Release Forms:

All shoots require a model release form, if I am doing the hiring then you sign mine, if you are doing the hiring then I will sign yours.  The type of release needed depends on the type of shoot, I have three pretty standard release forms.  One for minors, which needs a guardian signature.  One for adult models, which requires one form of photo identification.  One for adult models for shoots with adult themes, which requires two forms of identification, one being a government issues photo identification.  Feel free to preview/print my model release forms.

*Note to MINORS, for any shoot a parent/guardian must be present at all times during the shoot.

Escorts:

Escorts are always welcome on our shoots.  We want everyone to feel comfortable and have a great shoot.  If you are nervous or anxious about the shoot, then it will show in the photographs.  If that means you bring your husband/wife, boyfriend/girlfriend, mother/father, heck even ol’ granny that is ok by us.  When we are shooting Shari is the fixer of the stray hairs, wayward clothing, props gone wild, etc.  So let your fears be squelched that you will not be man-handled by some creeper photographer.  Wait, that almost made me sound like a creeper, hmmm….  On our shoots as with any shoot speak your mind.  If one of us give direction that you are not comfortable with, just say no.  It’s ok, usually we should know before hand what we are shooting and this shouldn’t be an issue, but sometimes shoots zig when we thought they were going to zag and if your not a zigger than let us know and we will get back to zagging!

Composition Cards:

We are happy to help out models with their Composition (Comp) Cards.  It is easier if we take all the photos being used on the card, so if that is your goal let’s plan our shoot(s) accordingly to achieve all the desired looks you want to portray.  If you want to use other photographers photos, we can do that as long as you have a release from that photographer allowing you use rights to your images.  You can check out some examples of our Comp Card layouts in our Portfolio link about.  Pricing for Comp Cards varies depending on how many shoots and editing work involved.  Let us know if you are interested.
